Bentonite Clay
The most commonly-found clay, bentonite clay comes from volcanic ash. This clay swells when you mix it with water, making it expand. The expansion causes its molecules to get charged. That electricity then helps the clay pull out toxins from the pores, and cling to the clay magnetically. Bentonite clay, hence, is great for deep pore cleansing. So, if you have very oily, blackhead prone-skin that is always breaking out, opt for this. If you have sensitive skin, stay away from this, as it contains lead, and can be harsh.
French Green Clay or Green Clay
Primarily containing montmorillonite, this type of clay is not necessarily found in France. A plant-based clay full of minerals, it is extremely enriching. So, opt for it if you have dull, acne-prone skin full of pimples and pimple scars.

If you have sensitive skin but need a bit of pore cleansing, opt for yellow Kaolin clay. If your skin is very oily and acne-prone but sensitive, try the pink or red Kaolin clays, of which the red is the strongest.
